Local history and heritage
Fife has a rich history and a wealth of local history material is held in Fife Council's archives, in Fife's museums and in libraries' local studies collections.
Local history materials include books, maps, artefacts, photographs, newspapers, oral history recordings, video recordings, manuscripts and ephemera. The archives also include the minute books of Fife Council and records of official bodies that have been maintaining roads and dealing with other countywide issues since 1709.
The collections are available for education, leisure and research purposes, and are stored and preserved for future generations.
