March is the month in which we celebrate World Book Day, and March’s Right Guid Read promises a world of recommendations, new titles and great ideas.
In this month’s A Right Guid Read, there’s a great suggestion for those of us who struggle to find time to read a whole novel - one of our reviewers recommends trying a Quick Read, a short novel, just perfect if you are short of time, and The Black Eyed Devils by Catrin Collier is just one of a whole series of Quick Reads, and with new titles launched for World Book Day on 4th March, there is sure to be something to suit all tastes. If you like your reading experiences to be full of thrills and excitement, then Michael Byrne’s Sacred Bones and Sacred Blood are right up your street. Travelling from Jerusalem to the Vatican City, these books are a superb blend of fast moving plots, exotic settings and nail biting dilemmas. For something completely different, and especially if you are an animal lover, Dewey the Small Town Library Cat is a must read. Found in the returns box of an Iowa library, this is the true story of a cat that becomes a fixture in the local library.
What’s New for March features the new novel by prize-winning author Andrea Levy. Set in Jamaica during the last years of slavery, The Long Song looks at the end of slavery and the years of freedom that followed.
Liz Jensen’s The Rapture, one of the TV Book Club’s featured titles, is a thriller with biblical overtones, while Ann Cleeves’ latest title in her Shetland crime series, Blue Lightning is sure to be a Right Guid Read.
What ever you choose to read this month, I hope you find A Right Guid Read.
