Primary School

Aberhill Primary School was opened in 1912 as a combined Primary and Secondary School.

The design of the school is distinctive having four corridor wings radiating from a central circular hall. Presently there are seventeen classes in school. The classrooms are traditional in design with the exception of a team teaching area used by the P1 classes.

In addition to the classrooms we have a Gym Hall, Resource Rooms, Library and a new Kitchen / Dining Room (Abbie s Bistro) which was opened in 1994. This gives us an additional hall for P.E. Games, Functions etc.

At Aberhill we aim to build on each pupils unique and individual strengths and to support their difficulties. Much emphasis is placed on the development of self-esteem, confidence, responsibility and self-discipline. Our Pupil Council meets weekly. The School Board and Friends of Aberhill help plan a variety of Fund Raising and after-school activities. For parents and pupils, they include Discos, Beetle Drives and Quiz Nights.

The Expressive Arts curriculum is well supported. As well as a one hundred strong Choir and a Boy s Choir, we also have a Guitar Group, Violinists and Handchime players.

Public and School productions and representations at all Council Festivals Drama, Music and Dance have become annual events. After School Clubs vary from Year to Year and include Computers (Parent / Child), Writing, Science / Technology, Art, Unihoc, Netball, Football, Rugby, Dance and Drama.
