Aberdour Primary School photo

Aberdour Primary is located in a small seaside village in Fife. From most of our classrooms we have beautiful views of the River Forth and of Inchcolm Island and Edinburgh. We can also see Silver Sands beach, which has been awarded a blue flag.

We recently celebrated our 40th birthday, as the school was officially opened in December 1967. We have wonderful playing fields and a wildlife garden. A strong Eco Committee looks after our wildlife garden. Their hard work has ensured that both ponds, in the garden, are well stocked with frogs, toads and newts!

The pupils here achieve well, with our attainment figures reaching well into the 90’s in the areas of Reading, Writing and Maths. However, our pupils have many other talents and they excel in the areas of Expressive Arts – especially music and drama.

All pupils are encouraged to do and be the best they can be. Nursery to P3 pupils are given stickers and lots of praise to encourage them. P4-P7 pupils have the chance to gain a certificate each week. Certificates collected can be used to claim a Bronze, Silver or Gold Award. This special Award is then presented at Assemblies and parents are invited to see their child being presented with one.

There is very active Pupil Council. This group of children (from the P4-P7 classes) choose the charities, which will be supported throughout the year, as well as tackling many issues raised by the school teams.

We have many extra curricular activities and offer activities for children, throughout the school, which are supported by the Active Schools initiative.

We are very grateful for the valuable support our parents give us. We have a very active Parent Association and newly formed Parent Council. They work closely together to ensure that the school is supported in many ways.

We pride ourselves on the ethos in Aberdour Primary. Many visitors have commented on the warm welcome all receive and on the friendly atmosphere in the school. In our entrance hall we have a display showing the ways in which are children are Confident Individual, Responsible Citizens, Effective Contributors and Successful Learners. We display the children’s talents both from inside and outside school.

As we have places for children from the age of 3 until 12 years, Aberdour Primary has a lot to offer any family.
